What makes dowsing work? Acoarding to science, what makes the pendulum/ sticks e.t.c move is idiomotoric movement. It means that the pendulum moves in a pattern affected by our subconsious. We subconsiously moves it. However, our mind is a miracle! The ability we use for finding water, missing persons, metall, energy or whatever your imagination limits, comes from our inside. I believe it,s possible to use anything as a tool, but it all achieves the same goal. That is, to connect to the ability inside us. What i dont understand however, is why different tools has different ways to say yes and no.

In using the pendulum, you have to train yourself how to use it. After a while, a certain motion will convey a yes, no or uncertain for you.
It may be totally different motions for someone else. There is no sert convention.

When dealing with a different system entirely, let's say the Tarot, the meaning is pretty much integrated into the card. For that reason, the Tarot is not considered an intuitive tool and is prohibited in some intuition teaching classes.

Dowsing as in using dowsing rods I am not familiar with. Maybe there are physical elements at work such as magnetism that influence the outcome so that could be why the metal is picking part of the information.

As dealing with the subconscious, maybe that is why we obtain answers when we get the conscious part out of the way as in hypnotism, dreams...etc

There are perhaps more answers in quantum physics

It works better with no shoes on. What i think is that the mind is very intuitive in this too. It,s sensitive to fluctuations and energy The strange part is that different equipment act,s different.. for the same person. It might be the balance in them but it,s still weird. The consious is a shroud. When we are speaking only the tip of an iceberg is showing as our consious mind, the other part is not consious. Whatever means used is there to access the not consious parts. That,s how i see it for the moment. I dont want to mess up the thread so i skip quantum physics in this.

Hi Puff. With a nick like that why haven't you invited Justin and me to visit yet ;-) This is my take. There is diviniation and there is actually moving energy to acomplish something in the physical world. They are quite different but they do cross dress often enough. Almost ANY device can be used for both or either but the tricky part is that the practitioner has to have that use for it in his belief system. I mean. Muscle testing and dowsing work on similar muscular principles. The physicist Dr. William Teller called muscle testing a "dowsing response" on one of Gary Craig's EFT training DVDs.

Anyway diviniation is, of course, telling past, present, and future (at least that's how we Santeros say it. CHANGING ENERGY is a way to actually change the physical world. YOU CAN USE A TAROT CARD! Invent a ritual for a love rival using the hanged man or the tower. BUT, while I do read and I am before anything, a Santero and I consult by throwing Eleggua's shells, outside Santeria, I greatly prefer the pendulum becuase while I do not have a divinity standing up and saying if you do this, my full protection is yours (which is the bottom line reason Santeros take cases other occult type practitioners do not (or should not at least) but with the pendulum you can divine, "Are there any nonbenificial frequencies now between Jai and Justin." yes (it was yes 4 times/day for months. The first no I got I fainted lol) so THEN after divinging, you SCRAMBLE that non benificial energy and change it, if not forever for a while slowly day day until the thing has been moved back enough times into it's correct energetic groove that it only needs infrequent touchups. This has been my experience and I think, without committing myself, Justing would say it differently but the whole key to dowsing is that it is bi phasic: It divines and gives you answers. ONCE YOU HAVE THAT DIVINED INFORMATION, THEN you switch methods (even if the swinging appears to be the same directions etc, it is now swinging aat the command of YOUR INTENTION. Dowsing in a divining way is more passive. To get something done, the whole key is INTENTION, clear, laser intention.

    Best,

    Jai

Sure be my guest,s :-) You seems like a nice dude Jai.This is interesting. I have never tought of a connection between magick and dowsing. Thanx dude! Interesting reading :-)
So you scramble the Eleggua's shells into the right energy?

My experiences on Dowsing have been with a ' forked tree limb' . I have been able to find water so someone would know where to dig a well. I have also found old septic tanks under the ground . I have not worked with Dowsing Rods yet, but do not feel that they would be any problem. I have Never used Crystals or a pendalum for Dowsing . What I 'd like to know is , How to use MY above METHOD, for finding METALS IN THE GROUND ??? Please advise , if you have experience with this as I have read somewhere, that Dowsing with a branch or metal rods, can be used like a ' metal detector '. Would like to learn this. Thanks for any assistance offered.

I do not think the tool used needs to be modified when looking for different things. What determines your results is the question. I think you would have to be very specific in what you ask for as, depending upon where you are, there are many metal objects in the ground. Be clear as to what you are looking to, how much, how deep etc.
